ACTION ALERT - No-Trail vs. Pro-Trail on Nov. 6

With just two days until trail voters go to the polls, TPAC believes we are still in a dead heat in most, if not all, of our key targeted White House, Senate, and House races.  Dozens of OHV clubs in various states are working hard right now to make sure their members vote for our trail candidates.  However, they need those of you who have not engaged your OHV networks to send out a personal note to your contacts urging them to go and vote PRO-TRAIL on Nov. 6.

Virtually all of TPAC’s key targeted and/or endorsed races are in battleground and/or swing states.   Our candidates continue to get pummeled by huge ad campaigns and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts funded by extreme elements of the environmental movement.    For example, left-wing activists have chartered bus-loads of protesters from the S.F Bay Area into Sacramento to try and defeat our trail champion Dan Lungren (CA –CD7).

Regulate the Federal Regulators!

As TPAC voters know, it’s both anti-trail politicians and the agency leads they appoint and/or confirm at the EPA and other cabinet level departments that can impact our recreational access to public and private lands.

 

TPAC is working hard to elect a pro-trail/pro-regulatory majority to the U.S. Senate.  On November 6, trail voters will help determine if the new Senate will rein in federal regulators on OHV recreation-related issues.   TPAC believes a new pro-access majority in the Senate will have a significant and immediate impact on the politically motivated regulatory agenda of the EPA and Consumer Product Safety Commission.  Those two agencies regulate both our public land access and the vehicles we use.

 

Tomorrow, TPAC will be announcing several new additions to our key targeted senate races.  Remember OHVers need a net gain of 4 pro-trail senators (3 if Romney/Ryan win) to get our majority.

New polling data just coming into TPAC’s war room is showing that Tom Smith is closing in on Bob Casey, Jr. in the Pennsylvania senate race.  Casey is backed by Big Green’s League of Conservation Voters and has almost a 100% score from that organization.  Smith’s regulatory reform agenda would give a big boost to public land access champions such as Senator Jim Inhofe and Senator Dean Heller.

Trail Hero Cong. Wally Herger Message to Access Voters

With just under 100 days until Trail Election Day on Nov. 6, TPAC is marking that fact with our “Be a Trail Hero” major summer 5-day fundraiser that will run from July 30 through August 3.

For every donation of $200 dollars or more, TPAC will post the donor’s First Name, City, and State as a Trail Hero.  For a $100 donation, you will be listed as a Trail Champion. Our fundraising goal for this election is 50-80K.  That will allow off-roaders to play a major role in 7-9 key Senate races and 10-20 key House races.

Wilderness Groups Target Heather Wilson in New Mexico

As the political parties gear up for their national conventions, TPAC wants to bring you some of the latest news as it relates to our efforts to elect a pro-trail majority to the U.S. Senate.

According to recent reports by Politico and the Washington Post,   there are five major anti-trail organizations now targeting Heather Wilson in NM  -- one of TPAC’s key senate candidates – for elimination.  Those groups include the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund.

Sources claim the groups intend to spend massive sums over the next few months smearing Heather Wilson and promoting their own candidate, Martin Heinrich.  Heinrich is also a board member of the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance.  That group has a long history of opposing responsible OHV recreation on public lands.

TPAC is asking you to help us continue  our fight to defend and support pro-trail candidates like George Allen (VA),  Dean Heller (NV),  Denny Rehberg (MT),  Jeff Flake (AZ), and Heather Wilson (NM) against attacks from determined anti-OHV groups.   These are must wins to switch the Senate power structure!

Greens Blister Access Candidates

TPAC wants to send this short update on the presidential race regarding the recent attacks on Governor Romney by one of the most active anti-OHV groups in the country and that organization is the Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).

 

PEER’s “OHV Policy” lead is Karen Schambach.  She has been the green’s point person on a majority of the anti-OHV lawsuits filed in the West included a lawsuit PEER filed to close the Carnegie State OHV Park in the S.F. Bay Area (a suit  they just lost and had to pay their own $500 thousand dollar legal debt).  Schambach was also the driving force behind the California legislature’s plan to gut the state’s user-pay/user benefit OHV program.

TPAC is warning you and our candidates that this will be an extremely ugly political season where far-left green groups will blister and smear pro-trail candidates with such names as “Member of the Dirty Dozen” or “Eco-thug” like they did to former Congressman Richard Pombo, Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee.

TPAC hopes you will get out on the trail this summer with your family and enjoy the access to public lands that we are fighting for through the election process.
