"All trail-access decisions are political decisions"

The Trail Political Action Committee (TPAC) was founded as the first national non-partisan political action committee dedicated solely to championing responsible off-highway vehicle recreation on designated roads, trails, and areas on public lands through the electoral and legislative processes.
*
The TPAC tactical goal is to target key races using state-of-the art real-time analysis where there is a tough election and the pro-access candidate needs some extra support to help to defeat their opponent.
*
TPAC is needed to counter the anti-access special interests in Washington DC who have long ago figured that contributing to closure-oriented politicians is how they will accomplish their goal of restricting OHV access on federal lands.
*
TPAC is ready to stand in that political breach to stop the flow of anti-access politicians into the Capital. TPAC will work hard to reverse that trend so that pro-access legislators will exist as the majority in Congress and the White House.

The Trail PAC Makes Dirt Bike News

The Trail PAC wants to thank AMA District 36 for helping get the word out about our efforts.  As many of you know, D36 is one of the most politically active OHV organizations in the country.  Dave Pickett (D36’s head political guru) figured out long ago that off-road voters must become engaged in the political and electoral process if our sport is to survive.

Thanks D36 for your support!

  1. Citizens for Balanced Use based in Montana supports TPAC. Our organization has been involved in planning actions all across Montana with limited success in fighting closures. The Forest Service is spending millions of dollars every year obliterating roads and trails once open to multiple use recreation. TPAC needs our support!

  2. Is there a place where we can see what TPAC has done? I've read many places where you have gain the support of off road groups but I can't find anything showing that you have actually contacted a congressman about these issues. If you are a legit group actualy taking steps to help out then I'm sorry for questioning you. But so many times a group will form and do nothing more than post alerts of possibly negative legislation and then ask for money to fight it. Letters and votes from constituents will have a huge effect. The sierra club actually likes it when groups form because it converts thousands of voices to one. Please stay active in having your members and supporters contacting their congressmen them selves as well as allowing you to be a voice for them. Posting links to where they can contact their congressmen helps a lot as many do not even know how.

  3. Doug, TPAC just started raising money to support pro-trail candidates running for the House, Senate, and White House. TPAC will post which key races/pro-trail candidates we have donated to. That all starts in 2012. Unlike groups that ask you to write letters (that is important!), TPAC deals only in elections and election related efforts. As we grow, we will also work on political initiatives. Thanks for asking!
